It's Preparedness Season: National Preparedness Month Recap and IAEM 2024

In this issue: A recap of BES's National Preparedness Month activities, the Alerts & Warnings Research Roundup webinar with FEMA IPAWS, Craig Fugate and Jim Featherstone in southern California, Greg Brunelle on disaster risk reduction, and IAEM 2024 at Booth 818.

It's Preparedness Season

At Bent Ear Solutions, we recognize the vital and growing importance of emergency managers in communities and organizations across the country, and we strive to contribute to and support the industry. Coming out of National Preparedness Month with multiple destructive hurricanes, wildfires, and catastrophic flooding impacting parts of the nation, we're reminded of the importance of preparedness and the burdening role a lack of preparedness can have on our infrastructure, emergency managers, and ultimately our communities.

Here's a recap of our National Preparedness Month activities:

Learn to write five-star emergency alerts using FEMA's Message Design Dashboard — free training from FEMA IPAWS, University at Albany, and Bent Ear Solutions.

Alerts & Warnings Research Roundup

We hosted the Alerts & Warnings Research Roundup, a virtual webinar in collaboration with Dr. Jeannette Sutton and Dr. Micki Olson from the University at Albany and FEMA's Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). This showcased the latest research in emergency alerts and warnings, the impact it's having in our communities, and what's next.

BES continues to support effective public alerting through our free FEMA IPAWS Message Design Dashboard training, developed under contract with the University at Albany.
