    ROLE DESCRIPTION

    The Director of Technology serves as Bent Ear Solutions’ senior technology leader, responsible for shaping the company’s strategic technical vision, supporting the delivery of high-quality technology solutions, and ensuring BES remains a forward-leaning expert in the use of existing and emerging technologies.

    ‍The Director provides strategic leadership, technical governance, and mentoring across BES’s technology programs, including the Data Services Division, which delivers real-time data streams that enhance situational awareness and operational decision support.

    The Director of Technology is both a strategist and a hands-on mentor, deeply engaged in understanding client needs, guiding technical teams, and ensuring BES consistently delivers innovative, reliable, high-quality, mission-focused solutions.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Strategic Technology Leadership

    • Define and lead Bent Ear Solutions’ overall technology strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals and client mission needs.

    • Stay current on emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies relevant to situational awareness, real-time data integration, GIS, and decision-support systems.

    • Ensure the organization effectively leverages both existing and emerging technologies to meet client operational requirements.

    • Recommend investments in tools, platforms, and capabilities that strengthen BES’s technical service offerings.

    • Supports business development engagements, including business partner engagements and collaboration, proposal writing, and strategy alignment.

    • Communicate complex technical concepts to leadership and non-technical decision-makers in a clear, actionable manner.

    Client Delivery Support

    • Collaborate with Mission Delivery to ensure the overall success of client-facing efforts. This includes assisting with the design of technology delivery plans, advising on technical resources, and supporting the successful execution of BES projects.

    • Help translate operational needs into technology architectures, integration plans, and implementation strategies.

    • Advise on the systematic configuration, integration, and optimization of client IT systems to deliver high-value decision support capabilities.

    • Ensure project teams adhere to best practices, technical standards, and security requirements. ‍

    Mentorship & Staff Development

    • Serve as a mentor, advisor, and technical sounding board for specialists across the company.

    • Maintain awareness of individual staff skills, deficiencies, workload, and development needs.

    • Recommend and guide on training, professional development, and hiring to ensure BES maintains a strong, future-ready technical team.

    Data Services Division Leadership

    • Provide technical direction for BES’ Data Services program, including real-time data acquisition, integration, processing, and delivery.

    • Identify and evaluate new data sources and technologies that can enhance client situational awareness and decision support.

    • Work with the technical staff to ensure reliability, security, scalability, and continuous improvement of the data services platform.

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Proven experience operating as a strategic leader by contributing to organizational strategy, prioritization, influencing senior stakeholders, and shaping long-term technology direction to drive business.

    • Strong background in GIS, real-time systems, situational awareness tools, or related mission-critical applications.

    • Demonstrated success leading and developing technical teams and delivering complex technology programs.

    • Ability to translate operational needs into integrated technical solutions.

    • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; ability to influence, collaborate, and present at the leadership level.

    EDUCATION & POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership, to include guiding technology strategy and setting long-term technical direction.

    • Demonstrated experience in systems integration or technical program management.

    • Ability to work 40 hours or more a week as required by workload.

    • Internet connection and the ability to work remotely.

    • Ability to obtain Top-Secret Security Clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in emergency management, public safety, defense, transportation, utilities, or other operational decision-making environments.

    • Experience overseeing data services, real-time data pipelines, or cloud-based integration platforms.

    • Experience managing complex technical implementation projects, preferably in an Operations Center environment.

    • Knowledge of system interoperability standards and IT architecture best practices.

    ROLE DESCRIPTION

    Bent Ear Solutions is currently seeking a Senior GIS Developer. Experience in public safety, emergency management, or related fields is helpful. This position demands high levels of teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in processes, priorities, and availability. In this role, you will design, develop, and implement GIS solutions for our clients. Collaborating with a team of developers, consultants, analysts, and project managers, you will deliver high-quality, client-focused services. Understanding how GIS can support and enhance emergency management operations is an important component of this position. The position also requires the ability to listen for and capture client requirements and turn those requirements into technological solutions. At BES, we help our clients do more with the technology they already own and this position plays a key role in meeting that mission. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Complete all aspects of assigned GIS projects, including design, maintenance, and production of geographic data and applications to create useful, user-friendly solutions.  

    • Maintain and update GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and consistency. 

    • Leverage Python scripting to automate processes and workflows.  

    • Conduct thorough research and analysis using GIS tools to enhance intelligence and operational effectiveness. 

    • Develop and maintain GIS documentation and standard operating procedures. 

    • Stay informed of emerging GIS technologies and their potential to enhance organizational capabilities.  

    • Effectively coordinate and communicate to manage projects independently, for optimal results in a fast-paced work environment. 

    • Be client-focused and adaptable to changing requirements and needs.  

    • Adhere to policies, procedures, regulations, and agreements related to information security. 

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Experience with databases and data modeling including designing, collecting, maintaining, validating, and publishing GIS data on the Esri ArcGIS Online platform and ArcGIS Pro, utilizing geodatabases, published layers and other associated data types. 

    • Experience with Python scripting to automate GIS processes and workflows. 

    • Extensive experience in developing visually appealing applications using Experience Builder, Dashboard, and other ArcGIS Web Application configuration tools. 

    • Extensive experience with web-based GIS using the Esri platform, including ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, and related applications (Survey123 Connect, Dashboard, ArcGIS Hub, Map Viewer, Experience Builder, etc.). 

    • An understanding of ArcGIS from an IT perspective, including hardware, software, storage, security, networking, servers, databases, web services, virtualization, and cloud computing. 

    • Experience in developing front-end web applications using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JS libraries such as React and JQuery. 

    EDUCATION & POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geography, or related field. 

    • 5+ years of experience in GIS (geospatial intelligence preferred). 

    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. 

    • Ability to work 40 hours or more a week as required by workload. 

    • Internet connection and the ability to work remotely.
