ROLE DESCRIPTION
BES seeks an Emergency Management Consultant with experience in public safety, law enforcement, utilities or related field. The Emergency Management Consultant is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive emergency preparedness and response plans to ensure the safety and resilience of the organization during disasters or critical incidents. This role coordinates emergency planning, training, response, and recovery efforts in collaboration with internal departments, external agencies, and the public.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Development and maintenance of emergency management and preparedness plans and procedures.
Support for emergency management software and tools.
Development and facilitation of emergency preparedness drills and exercises.
Development of emergency preparedness training content creation and delivery.
General project and planning support.
Emergency response and restoration operations support.
Participation in external events, such as off-site meetings, conferences, trainings, and field-based response and coordination efforts.
Additional duties as assigned.
Potential for work required outside of regular business hours.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

PREFERRED EDUCATION & POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Homeland Security, or related field (Master’s preferred for leadership roles).
5+ years of experience in emergency preparedness, crisis management, or public safety.
Familiarity with NIMS, ICS, and FEMA training (e.g., IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800).
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
Experience with emergency management software and GIS is a plus.
Proficient writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Excellent research and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and in teams, inspiring creativity.
Experience in project management, change management, and strategic communication is a plus.
Ability to work 40 hours or more a week as required by workload.
